Community Plan – January 2012

A workshop was held on Saturday, January 28, 2012, at the Coast Plaza Hotel, Comox Room hosted by Holly Sovdi, Urban Planner, West End Community Planning Team

On July 2011 Vancouver City Council passed a motion to create three new Community Plans in the Grandview-Woodland, Marpole and West End neighbourhoods. In consultation with community and city-wide stakeholders, a Community Plans General Terms of Reference was developed.

On January 28, 2012, a workshop was held to tailor the terms of reference to the needs of each community. The purpose of this workshop was to confirm planning priorities for the West End, confirm the engagement principles and objectives, and begin developing a network of community leaders.

The outcomes of the workshop were used to refine the general Terms of Reference into the West End Community Plan Terms of Reference.

The workshop was intended for representatives of West End neighbourhood organizations and select city-wide organizations.

A formal invitation for this workshop was sent out in January 2012 accompanied by a workshop package and background material. Invitees were asked to share this material with their group and engage in any internal discussions prior to the January 28th session.
