The West End Citizens Action Network is a group of individuals working together to inform, motivate, and assist each other toward improving our community.
We are a resource of information, assistance, and focus for concerned citizens. We motivate neighbours to act appropriately on their concerns and facilitate cooperation between residents, elected officials, and the Vancouver Police Department.
Formed in 2003 by a group of people concerned with rising crime and disorder in the neighborhood, the Citizens Action Network has grown to 150 members with a wide range of backgrounds, interests, and ideas.
As well as our continuing focus on livability issues such as crime, street disorder, and drugs, we involve ourselves in other neighborhood concerns like safe school zones, the use and allocation of parks, and the proposed relocation of the nearest hospital.
Our organization is held together by our common interests alone. There are no membership fees and no Annual General Meeting. The commitment our members share is an interest in the well-being of the West End and a willingness to share our insight and opinions so we can all learn from each other.
